The 8th China-ASEAN Audio-Visual Week is co-hosted by the National Radio and Television Administration of China, competent authorities of Brunei and the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and organized under the lead of the Radio and Television Bureau of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is included in the commemorative events marking the 5th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between China and ASEAN designated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China. As one of the flagship events of the 8th China-ASEAN Audio-Visual Week, this contest adopts the theme of “AI Empowerment, Co-Creation and Shared Future”. It aims to leverage the strengths of micro dramas featuring compact narratives and high communication efficiency, keep pace with the industrial shift toward high-quality production, internationalization and digital intelligent upgrading, discover outstanding original content and creative talents, and boost in-depth integration between micro dramas and cutting-edge technologies including artificial intelligence. Funding support will be granted to shortlisted entries to facilitate the industrialization and commercialization of excellent works and advance high-quality development of the China-ASEAN micro drama industry.
I. Entry Categories
Live-Action Micro Drama: Completed live-shot micro dramas performed by real actors with outstanding ideological value, artistic quality, viewing experience and communication effect will be assessed, with priority given to entries featuring high thematic compliance and content quality.
AI-Generated Micro Drama: All entries must be fully completed works, either released or unreleased. For works that have been launched, their premiere date shall be no earlier than January 1, 2026.
Micro Drama Scripts: Original scripts with complete structure, compact plots and innovative ideas that conform to the creative principles of micro dramas will be reviewed. Priority is given to scripts with engaging storytelling, rigorous logic and high thematic matching, as well as strong potential for screen adaptation and commercial development. Submitted scripts must never have been published or adapted into finished videos.
II. Competition Themes
(I) Theme 1: Unite as One for Win-Win Cooperation
This category highlights authentic stories from China and all ASEAN nations amid regional economic integration. Works depict diverse social landscapes and everyday lives to strike emotional chords, boost cross-cultural exchanges and spread the development philosophy of friendly interaction and mutual benefit.
(II) Theme 2: Integrated Culture & Tourism, Connected Hearts
Entries tap into fine traditional Chinese culture to tell authentic Chinese stories and showcase regional charms. Productions weave historical allusions, folk customs and cultural tourism elements into storylines to embody the core values of civilizational mutual learning and mutual assistance amid challenges.
(III) Theme 3: Youth Exchange for Closer Cultural Bonds
Centered on urban exchange, youth development, career striving and dream pursuit, entries narrate warmth, perseverance, personal growth and transformation in ordinary lives, reflect urban humanity and deliver the cultural aspiration of people-to-people connectivity, inclusiveness and mutual learning.
(IV) Theme 4: AI Empowerment for Future Innovation
Entries should focus on cutting-edge topics such as artificial intelligence, human-machine interaction and future society. Works portray people’s lifestyles, cultural forms and emotional bonds amid technological revolutions, conveying the contemporary spirit of innovation-driven development and joint creation of a shared future.
